Vijay Iyer receives Jazz Journalists Association Jazz Award 2010 as Musician Of The Year.

The Jazz Journalists Association Jazz Award is one of the most important international jazz awards. The winners are determined by an independent jury of prominent jazz journalists. By receiving the award, Vijay Iyer ranks with previous awardees such Herbie Hancock, Ornette Coleman, Wayne Shorter or Dave Holland.

The award is another milestone in the ongoing public recognition of Vijay Iyer’s ACT debut album Historicity (ACT 9489-2). His new album Solo (ACT 9497-2) is going to be released on August 27, 2010.

Mulatu Astatke & The Heliocentrics (Etiopija, VB) - cancelled

We regret sincerely to inform you that Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke has unfortunately developed a serious health condition which his doctors have diagnosed as potentially life-threatening. Mulatu has been advised not to fly and not to undertake strenuous work of any kind. As such, he will now be unable to perform at the Ljubljana Jazz Festival.

 

 

Consequently, Anthony Joseph & The Spasm Band concert has been rescheduled for 11pm.
