Križanke forecourt
29 June – 2 July (during evening concerts)
An interactive art installation, transforming the zebra crossing into a working piano on which the pedestrians make music with their feet. The “instrument” is composed of a zebra-keyboard, a zebra crossing transformed into a keyboard, marked by broad black and white stripes – keys, a digital camera, pointed at the zebra-keyboard, and a computer with speakers. Specially devised software detects pedestrians touching individual keys, therefrom creating a music score, which is converted into so-called pedestrian music.
Under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Franc Solina and co-mentor Dr. Borut Batagelj, Matevž Lipanje graduated in 2010 with his thesis Piano Crossing - Generating Music Using Computer Vision from the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana.
